24 August 2016 – During the mid-year holidays, Saint Andrew’s welcomed four exchange visitors from the Ripley St Thomas Church of England Academy in Lancashire: Joseph Baldwin (18), Isaac Thornton, (17), Adam Robinson (17), and maths’ teacher Scott Cameron. After a week of acclimatising, they joined the school for the beginning of the third term.
22 August 2016 – It was a safe bet that Saint Andrew’s would claim the honours in the senior section of the South African Council of English Education (SACEE) debating finals, which were held on Friday. That’s not an arrogant statement. The truth is, simply, that Saints A had qualified to face Saints B for the senior title in the inter-schools league!
19 August 2016 – The Saint Andrew’s Chapel hosted its quarterly Dedication Services on Friday, with the boys bringing tinned food to school, which will be donated to Mosamaria, a home-based NGO that works to curb the spread of HIV.
19 August 2016 – The third term has struck with a vengeance in its demands on the Saints’ Chapel Choir, but, not surprisingly, under the leadership of the indefatigable Clive Mott, Head Chorister Leonard Jennings, and organist Penny Sparks they have risen to every challenge and remain in popular demand.
18 August 2016 – The Saints Chapel hosted the annual Confirmation Service on Wednesday evening, with the Bishop of Bloemfontein, Dintoe Letloenyane, in attendance and the Saints Choir brightening up proceedings with their customary excellence.
Cultural activities at St Andrew’s School are well entrenched. Our Junior Choir has established a solid tradition while our Chapel Choir performs in the school chapel, in local churches and at various functions. One of the highlights on the school programme is the annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols. This event is an opportunity for the school community to gather and worship God while focusing on the real meaning of Christmas.
