Quentin Smith: on becoming a successful fiction author

21 October 2016 – Doctor Quentin Smith, Saint Andrew’s Head Boy in 1982, travelled from England to Bloemfontein to serve as guest speaker at the school’s recent Speech Day. A successful anaesthetist, he has also become a successful writer of fiction after taking on that challenge later in life.

Haxton Guiney (11 January 1927 – 3 August 2016)

17 August 2016 – Haxton Guiney, a loyal Old Andrean, who served Saint Andrew’s with distinction for many decades, passed away recently. A memorial service was held at the school chapel, with the Saints’ choir performing at the request of his wife, Gwyn.
